  Provides numerous and detailed suggestions for university science teachers to achieve gender equity. Also contains a reference list.  
TERC - Eyes to the Future  
  Middle School Girls Envisioning Science and Technology in High School and Beyond  
  Organizes mentoring program for middle school girls' transition to high school with emphasis on their remaining engaged in science and technology; produces online magazine "Speak Out" for middle school girls by middle school girls.

  University of Missouri  
  Exploring Physics in Cyberspace  
  Program strives to increase the participation of girls in the physical sciences. Contains curricular and extracurricular components along with teacher training. Resources for both physics and gender equity are provided.  
  University of Arizona  
  Girls in the SYSTEM (Sustaining Youth in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)  
  In partnership with the Girl Scouts, the program provides after school and summer programs for girls in grades 3-8, especially Mexican-American, Native American and economically underprivileged girls. Relationships are cultivated between formal and informal educators (classroom teachers and troop leaders) to better reach these girls. Their website provides criteria for successful activities for girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  
  Temple University  
  Sisters in Science (SIS)  
  The overall goal of SIS is to increase minority girls' interest, literacy, and participation in science and mathematics. Upper-elementary students from urban schools participate in Saturday academies, summer programs as well as in-school and after-school activities. Teacher training, family connections and intergenerational volunteers are also components of this program.  
  Southwest Missouri State University  
  Opening the Horizon: Strengthening Science Education for Middle School girls In Rural Southwest Missouri  
  Provides rural middle school teachers and female students with curricular materials, equipment, training, and science experiences.  
  Virginia Tech  
  Counseling for Gender Equity: A Professional Development Program for Educators Counseling Girls in Virginia  
  Participants in this program are school counselors who wish to become better informed about the issue of gender equity in science and mathematics education. This website provides a vast amount of online gender equity resources.  
  Washington Research Institute  
  Washington State Gender Equity Project  
  This is a statewide effort to increase preservice teachers' awareness about the issue of gender equity. Provides sample gender equity activities.  
  Teaching SMART  
  Teaching SMART is an equity-based, 3-year professional development program for upper elementary teachers (with emphasis on minority and female students). Sample lesson plans are provided.  
  University of Missouri  
  Gender Equity Course for Science Teachers: A Pilot Study  
  This is a paper presented at the 1999 annual meeting of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching. Discusses the teacher education component of a program designed to increase girls' participation and success in the physical sciences. Contents of the professional development program are outlined and evaluated.  
  Plugged-In  
  Plugged-In, in affiliation with the Girl Scouts, is a program that fosters girls' self-esteem and knowledge in math, science, and technology. Includes meteorology activities!  
  Georgia Institute of Technology  
  InGear  
  InGear is a comprehensive gender-equity resource from a consortium of Georgia higher education institutions; includes a 144-page K-12 program guide.  
  Voices    
  Rural and Urban Images: Voices of Girls in Science, Mathematics, and Technology  
  A three-year program designed to increase girls' participation and confidence in science, math, and technology. Includes after-school programs, mentorships and hands-on experiences for girls. Website includes curriculum materials and gender-equity resources.  
  Florida State University  
  WIMSE: Women in Math, Science and Engineering Program  
  Florida State University's program for supporting female students in the fields of math, science and engineering.  
  AWSEM: Advocates for Women in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics  
  AWSEM is a program that unites parents, teachers and females in science-related fields in order to support girls' interests in science, engineering, mathematics and technology. Activities include girls science clubs, mentorships, and curricular reform efforts. An extensive list of links and gender equity resources are also available through the website.  
  Arizona State University  
  WISE: Women in Applied Science and Engineering  
  This program at Arizona State University supports female students in the fields of science and engineering. It also includes programs for middle and high school students, teachers, and counselors.  
  MentorNet: Women in Applied Science and Engineering  
  Creates email-based relationships between female undergraduate science-majors with practicing scientists and engineers.
 
  National Science Foundation  
  Division of Human Resource Development Programs for Gender Equity in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology  
  This site provides all of the gender equity programs that have received and/or are currently receiving funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

  AWIS: Association for Women in Science  
  A professional organization linking women in all the sciences.  
  Myra Sadker's Website  
  Myra Sadker is a well-known researcher in the field of gender equity in education. Her website provides useful information concerning gender equity as well as a list of readings and links.  
  4000 Years of Women in Science  
  A large resource for finding female scientists throughout history.  
  SWE: Society of Women Engineers  
  SWE acts as a source of information for female engineers as well as a platform for encouraging young women to enter the field.  
  Expect the Best from a Girl  
  Women's College Coalition provides information and suggestions for both parents and teachers concerning gender equity in education. Recent equity-related programs and publications are also listed.
