  "There are many reasons why it is important to help young girls develop positive attitudes and an interest in science ... For too long in the past, young girls have grown up with the belief that they do not have the necessary background or have felt intimidated when it comes to studying science ... When I teach my science classes, I emphasize a supportive environment for both boys and girls, but being a woman and having experienced some of these challenges when I was a young student, I feel I can relate and provide some solutions."
