| Morning: Technology Use for Location of Resources | ||
| Teachers will conduct on-line research to effectively search for and evaluate resources that will assist them in both their daily classroom teaching and REALM activities. They will also explore on-line interschool communication strategies (email, listserv, etc.). Teachers will also be introduced to the "learning cycle" as a means of providing experiential learning. Working in groups, teachers will design and present a facilitation using the learning cycle. | ||
| Afternoon: Monitoring Weather Stations and Current Weather Conditions | ||
| Weather forecasting will be demonstrated and described, with an emphasis on Florida weather. Topics such as the sea breeze, thunderstorms, waterspouts, air pollution, fire weather, aviation weather, as well as hurricane and ENSO will be examined. Thus, an appreciation of the importance of scale is integral into REALM. A central recommendation of national standards and accurate forecasting depends on the understanding of the largest meteorological scales down to the smallest. | ||
