Day 3

Morning: Exploration of Careers in Meteorology
Teachers will write and share a short paragraph outlining their perceptions of a meteorologist's daily work. They will also explore the importance of engaging girls in technology for the purpose of research. Teachers will then participate in a hands-on session that will guide effective Internet searching and the importance of evaluating web resources. Materials they receive will be the same ones they will use with students in their meteorology classes. The Internet sites they explore, and the activities that place them in the role of CyberSleuths, will focus on meteorology careers, women's role in these careers and women in science throughout history.

Afternoon: Introduction to Meteorological Measurement using Conventional Instruments.
The international GLOBE program has established a set of protocols that will be followed. A weather station will be set up during this afternoon suing conventional instruments. Meteorological history will be presented on the contributions of notable women in meteorology.
