NOAA 4 was placed in a near circular,
polar orbit. The craft and its systems operated successfully,
providing scanned images and vertical temperature profiles to both
operational meteorologists and private interests with APT
capability. NOAA 4 remained operational for 1463 days until
deactivated by NOAA on November 18, 1978.
