NOAA-12 IMAGE SUMMARY FOR: June 15, 2005 IMAGE TIME: 2200Z |
|
NOTE: Notice that the image on the left is visible and the image on the right is infrared.
SYNOPTIC SITUATION:
A cold front is draped over the NE part of the United States. It should
be moving southeast over the country in the next few days. The clear area west of the clouds
designates an area of high pressure.
CLOUD AND OCEANIC FEATURES:
Stratus clouds dominate much of the NE United States, as they are associated with
the cold front. Some cirrocumulus can be spotted south of Haitian island over the Caribbean Sea.
The puffy cumulus clouds over the lower part of Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, and
over the Florida peninsula are associated with the seabreeze and can often bring in
storms. The cumulus clouds over the Montana-ish area are associated with a trough over
the area.
