EXPLORES! and GLOBE:
Partners in Improving
Environmental Education!
In 2000, FSU became a partner in the international GLOBE program (What is GLOBE?).  The EXPLORES! Program manages this partnership.  EXPLORES! is involved with GLOBE through:
  • The development of Protocols on Relative Humidity and Barometric Pressure (Relative Humidity and Atmospheric Pressure Protocols)
  • The improvement of the Cloud Observation protocol (Cloud Protocols, also see the new Atmosphere Appendix)
  • Taking atmospheric observations on the FSU campus
  • Participating in Earth Day activities
  • GLOBE training teachers in the course "Teaching Earth and Space Science"
  • Giving presentations on the GLOBE program:
    • National Science Teacher's Association 2001, St. Louis, Missouri
    • American Meteorological Society 2001, Albuquerque, NM
    • Florida Association of Science Teachers 2000, Miami, Florida
    • NOAA-L Launch Workshop 2000, Vandenburg AFB, California
  • Planning Professional Development workshops for 2001 to GLOBE certify educators
  • Archive of LandSat images for use with the MultiSpec GIS tool.
