Scores and Standings

A special appreciation to Jon Rizzo for developing this contest, Bill Cottrill and Aysegul Erdem for maintaining it for many years,
and Bret Whissel for developing the new version of the contest software.

Jon, Aysegul, Bret, and Bill wish to thank the Purdue University Forecast Game administrators for giving him the inspiration
"in that we all should be ultimately accountable for our more atrocious forecasts."

Scoring Information

Contest Scoring

The contest scoring is performed by a C program that declares all the various error scoring variables as INTEGERS. Thus, truncation occurs when the Probability of Precipitation (PoP) is scored. Each forecaster is urged to "Play the PoPs Game" in order to maximize the benefit of forecasting a probability of precipitation that minimizes the potential error.
