GOES - Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES 4-7)

The GOES program was continued in 1980 after the successes achieved by the SMS/GOES satellites. The operational capabilities of the satellites were improved upon by the addition of a vertical sounding device which was added to the antenna assembly.
